PUGLIA – A cooking journey through a land and its unique ingredients
A love letter to Puglia, its landscapes, its people, and its extraordinary biodiversity.
More than just a cookbook, this is a sensory journey that reveals the deep connection between ingredients, traditions, and the land.
An essential read for those who want to uncover the richness and complexity of Apulian cuisine—where history, territory, and biodiversity slowly simmer together.
WHAT’S INSIDE
Handcrafted in Polignano a Mare, this beautifully designed coffee table book is three books in one: a journey through Apulia’s food, its traditions, and its rituals.
At its core lies the essence of the region’s gastronomic identity: extra virgin olive oil, durum wheat, wine, vegetables, fruit, wild herbs, and cheeses.
Each chapter is dedicated to an iconic Apulian ingredient, exploring:
– its history and deep-rooted connection to Puglia
– its technical and tasting characteristics
– the sensory experience – whether it’s the structure of a cheese or the scent of a sun-ripened tomato
The journey continues with “The emotional Apulian almanac”, a collection of short stories that follow the rhythm of the seasons, unveiling rural rituals and celebratory foods.
From the vibrant tradition of making tomato sauce at home in late summer to the joy of gathering by the sea for a simple but meaningful meal, from the ancient gestures of olive harvesting to the deep-rooted customs that define the Apulian table – each story is a window into a world where food is memory, identity, and shared experience.
Alongside these glimpses into Apulian life, you’ll also find fragments of my own journey, woven into the fabric of this land.
The book closes with an essential recipe collection – perfect for when nostalgia for Puglia comes knocking.
WHO IS THIS BOOK FOR
This is not just a recipe book—intentionally so. Because a recipe is just the destination, while Puglia’s cuisine is a journey: through landscapes, centuries-old traditions, and the hands that shape its food.
This book is for:
– Food lovers who want to dive deep into Apulian culture, biodiversity, and history
– Those who buy, cook, or order Apulian food and want to taste more than just a dish, but a whole heritage
– Anyone passionate about high-quality, authentic ingredients.
